Glucofy tracks daily sugar intake against a target set for each individual. The interface had to survive being opened several times a day on a phone, which shaped nearly every decision in it.

An app people open several times a day cannot ask for much. Food logging had to be quick enough that it happens at all — if logging a snack is a chore, the data stops after a week and the tracker becomes useless.
Those numbers then turn into progress views a user can read at a glance, against their own target rather than a generic one. The UI stays simple and responsive throughout, because it is being used one-handed on a phone.
